Riley (she/her)

This young person, a lesbian youth, came to Casa Q just one month before her 18th birthday, during the winter holiday season, a time that can often intensify feelings of instability and isolation. Over her 36-day stay, Casa Q provided her with a safe, affirming environment where she was able to experience a genuine sense of belonging and community.

During the holidays, she was welcomed into the home with care and celebration, including receiving gifts that helped her feel seen, valued, and included. These moments of connection created a foundation of trust and comfort during a pivotal transition in her life.

As she prepared for adulthood, she demonstrated growing independence and resilience. After leaving Casa Q, she successfully transitioned into another local Transitional Living Program, where she continues to thrive. She is currently on track to graduate high school in the coming months, reflecting her commitment to building a stable and self-sufficient future.

Even after her transition, she remains connected to Casa Q returning for support, community, and encouragement when needed. Her story highlights the lasting impact of providing not just shelter, but a space where young people can feel welcomed, supported, and empowered as they move forward.
