Maya (she/her)

During her 49-day stay at Casa Q, this young person found a safe and affirming space during a period of housing instability and transition. In that time, she made meaningful progress in building essential life skills that will support her moving forward.

With guidance from staff, she strengthened her ability to self-advocate, learning how to express her needs and make informed decisions. She also developed healthier boundaries in her relationships and gained important knowledge around internet safety, helping her navigate both in-person and online environments more confidently.

In addition to skill-building, she embraced opportunities for creativity and connection. She found joy in art and music, using these outlets for self-expression and emotional processing. She also participated in outings, including trips to the skating rink, which provided moments of fun, community, and normalcy during a challenging time.

Casa Q provided more than just shelter; it offered stability, affirmation, and support when she needed it most. Her time in the program reflects how even short-term interventions can create meaningful impact, equipping young people with tools for safety, confidence, and continued growth.
