Fiona (she/her)

“One of our clients was discharged shortly after arriving [at the Group House] because she was self-harming. She had nowhere else to go, and was coached by myself and other staff on how to make a stay here possible – by staying safe. We made agreements on her safety plan, and the way she advocated for herself, I think, gave her a greater sense of agency.

Since then, she’s been here for almost a year, and we were able to help her start Hormone Replacement Therapy (a day she thought she’d never see). She has gotten treatment for her eating disorder, which her mother will be participating in so she can safely move back home one day, and she has successfully stayed away from self-harm in ways that she didn’t see possible before, because she now thinks of her relationship to self-harming as an addiction.”
