This young person, a transgender male, spent 293 days at Casa Q’s Safe House before turning 18 and aging out of the program. During that time, Casa Q provided a stable, affirming environment where he was able to focus on building the skills needed for a successful transition into adulthood.
Throughout his stay, he made meaningful progress toward independence. He developed the ability to maintain employment, demonstrating responsibility, consistency, and commitment to his goals. In addition, he actively participated in housing-related activities and outings, gaining practical experience and confidence in navigating the responsibilities of independent living.
A key area of growth was in self-advocacy. Over time, he learned how to communicate his needs, access resources, and take an active role in planning for his future. These skills have been critical as he prepares to live more independently.
His journey reflects the impact of long-term, affirming support providing not just housing, but the tools and experiences necessary for young people to build stability, confidence, and a path forward into adulthood.
